New Haven Criminal Defense Lawyer
New Haven Criminal Defense Lawyer
Criminal Defense Lawyer, Rachel Mirsky, represents individuals charged with crimes in Connecticut state courts. Under Connecticut law, crimes are categorized as misdemeanors and felonies.
When charged with a misdemeanor or felony, the State’s Attorney works with local police officers to prove your guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. My role as your criminal defense lawyer is to weaken or “poke holes” in the State’s case. This may be done by raising questions about the strength of the prosecution’s evidence against you, exposing inconsistencies with witness testimony, and much more.
Misdemeanors are punishable by up to a year in county or local jail and may include probation, fines, restitution payments, community service, and other conditions.
Felonies are more serious charges that carry a sentence of one year to life in state prison.
The penalties you face for a misdemeanor or felony depend upon the “class” of the charge against you. Higher grade offenses result in higher-level punishments.
